"Big Hair Rocker"

36" x 48", oil on canvas

This is painting #2 in my "Movement and Music" series, showing April 3 - 30 in the UVU Student Show at the Woodbury Gallery in Orem, Utah.

The Rocker stands with one foot forward. He rocks forward and backward, hair flying in rhythm with the loud music he plays from his electric guitar. The sound throbs, the lights are bright and warm. There is lots of movement in his hands as he executes a complicated solo.

This is dedicated to my husband, Paul, who totally rocks! No, he doesn't have long hair, but he's got STYLE.
"Acoustic Guitarist"

30" x 36", oil on canvas.

This is #1 in my "Movement and Music" series, showing in the UVU Student Show at the Woodbury Gallery in Orem, UT April 3 - 30.

The mellow sounds of the acoustic guitar are portrayed by warm reds, oranges and yellows. Under the spotlight the guitarist cradles his guitar as he plays. His body sways back and forth, his right hand strums and picks rhythmically while his left hand slides up and down the neck of his guitar. His feet shift slightly, casting interesting shadows. In the background the other instruments are silent but for the tapping of a cymbal and a snare.
